Does Man Need God in Western Civilization?

Malcom Muggeridge said, "It would be difficult for anyone looking around the world today to resist the conclusion that something has gone very badly indeed with what we continue to call “Western Civilization.” This awareness tends to be distorted and muffled – if not obliterated – by the media, which manage to induce us to take for granted the continuingly explosive situations that confront us on every hand, and to see as an enlargement of our freedom and an enhancement of the quality of our living the steady and ominous erosion of the moral standards on which our traditional way of life has been based." - The True Crisis of our Time

In our day and age it seems that for the most part, mankind has slipped from any cognition of morals, values, and God forbid, a loving creator. But when we're angry, or upset, or something terrible has happened, or we've slammed our fingers in a door, what do we exclaim? "God!" "Jesus Christ!"

Why? Perhaps we know deep down there is an ontic referent regarding how things ought to be, and when they don't go rightly, we exclaim in intensity, the name of our creator. How often do you hear someone exclaim "Oh Buddha!?" Or Krishna, or Zoroaster?

In the news lately we hear of super blood moons, terrorist attacks, and deep seeded divisions in culture.

When God is evicted from the public square, from the scientific institutions, from the public schools, from the colleges, what happens? We've seen a growing depravity in the culture epitomized by perhaps a certain Miley Cyrus, once an idol for millions of young female children on the Disney channel, later seen on MTV naked mounted on a wrecking ball swinging back and forth. Which may be an accurate picture of what the television media is doing to the minds of our young people: wrecking them. Wrecking them with sexuality, drug culture, greed, and materialism.

We've seen the ugly truth behind Hollywood and the media lately.  We've seen the truth come out about sexual abuse, and pedophilia in Hollywood.  We've seen Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and so many others outed.  We've heard about the depraved sex parties of silicon valley tech companies.  We're learning about the truth behind the facade put up by the media.  It begs many questions.

"The greatest question of our time will be this: Can man live without God?" -Ravi Zacharias - The Death of Truth and the Decline of Culture

As I've browsed through the channels and viewed the "programming" I'm even more convinced of my previous conviction: The mainstream media through television, radio, internet, and product advertising are at the forefront of the decline of culture in the United States and Europe. And the process of globalization has made that depraved declining media available to the entire world. Then what comes to mind is a piece of scripture from Revelation that says "For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries."(Revelation 18:3)

Does man need God? To me it seems that he does. There was always the village atheist in the old times. But now it has become a popular mainstream belief. The belief seems to be that science explains reality, and that's all we need. But is that true? Does science adequately explain the origins of mankind? It explains some things, yes.  But not everything.

Science is based on observation. There is no theory regarding how the universe got here. Evolution is discussed, but where did the material and energy come from? A big bang is theorized, but who caused this big bang? Thankfully there are excellent arguments, like the Kalam Cosmological argument which explain how the universe needs an uncaused designer. Intelligent design is a reasonably view.  It's been attacked relentlessly of course.  But the facts are the facts, it's a reasonable view.  I would say in fact, it is much more reasonable than a universe that "creates itself from the law of gravity" as Professor Stephen Hawking has suggested. But that is an illogical statement, as Professor John Lennox has pointed out. Indeed, quite illogical!  A law like gravity?  Let me ask you this: Does the fact that two plus two equals four ever put four dollars in your bank account? A law like math or gravity can't create.  A third grader knows that.

Never-the-less the question remains, does man need God? To me, it seems that man desperately needs God. I grew up without God. My parents took my sister and I to Catholic church, but to me it was so antiquated and detached from reality that I never made even a meek connection to it. But I needed God. I needed God when the commercials and consumerism had convinced me I needed so many products and subscriptions and new toys.

I needed God when I was so obsessed with NFL football that I collected volumes full of football cards. I needed God when I spent endless hours playing Nintento, Super Nintendo, Playstation, Playstation 2, Xbox, PC, and Xbox 360 games. I needed God when my parents divorced and my world was shattered. I needed God when I turned to drugs and drinking to blot out the terrible emotions I felt.  I needed God when I dated numerous girls, slept with them, hurt them, broke their hearts, and found myself more and more empty after each conquest.

And I needed God when I kept asking: "Why am I here? What is the meaning of life? What should I do with this life?"

And in the same way as I need God, so all humanity needs God. Because God shows us the truth. He shows us the way. He shows us how to overcome death. He shows us Jesus Christ, and invites us to believe in him and live a completely different life as a result. But not to believe in some story or book or legend, but to believe in a Living Jesus Christ, and a Christianity that is not just talk or myth, but extends into all reality around us, across the cities, the forests, the rivers and oceans; and is lived out in the physical world, not just in talk, but in true devotion to follow a living God named Jesus Christ.

Many turn hard against the idea of God. Many have had very negative experiences with Christianity. The word "religion" or "religious" has come to be a virtual curse word. It is a taboo in modern society. Spirituality is good, and religion is always bad. People openly mock the Christian worldview citing it as the view of the uneducated rubes of the past. They suggest: Have you ever seen God?  No, then God must not exist.  But this is overly simplistic.  Have you ever seen an atom?  Or have you seen the oxygen you breath?  Have you seen love?  Yet we know these things exist.  There is more to life than sight.

The rage against God is quite interesting.  There are many militant God-hating atheists out there.  But why?

"Atheists don't hate fairies, leprechauns, or unicorns because they don't exist. It's impossible to hate something that doesn't exist. Atheists hate God because he does exist." -Ray Comfort

Still there is so much clamor against "organized religion" and the many evils of it.  But have we forgotten that Christianity has produced great institutions like orphanages, hospitals, universities, and the like?  Have we forgot that the freest and most prosperous nations on this Earth have been grounded in the Christian faith?  Yet the blanket assumption is laid out that "all religion is created by man and therefore false."  But is there evidence for such a conclusion?  Or is it just a slogan of our day and age?  Yes, this is simply a slogan, and it falters when faced with the facts.  We don't get out of ethical living that easily.  But it certainly is a useful slogan to toss aside ethical living and live a debauched "me-centered" life.

However, as Dr. Norm Geisler said, “The unexamined life is not worth living by insisting that the unexamined faith is not worth believing."

One is not suddenly free to live a life of empty debauchery and depravity simply by pointing out the failings of "organized religion." That is not an acceptable remedy to the soul. Christianity has certainly been practiced poorly by many. So how about instead of judging, condemning, and then discarding the very excellent teaching of Christ in the gospels, why not instead step forward and live it as correctly as possible, to show the "organized religious types" how it is done? That is, in fact, exactly what Jesus Christ did when he confronted the religious hypocrites of his day and age, the pharisees.

It's been a question on my mind in the past few weeks. How did we get here? How did things get this way in the United States? This nation was founded on Christian principles. This is in fact a Christian nation as evidenced by statements made by the Supreme court. So then how did this happen? And I think several factors play into it. But the biggest factor has to be the minds of young people. The young people are future society. The current professional class right now are the young people of yesterday.

I saw it most clearly myself as I was growing up. What were the influences on my mind? Primarily? My parents. My friends. The television. The public school. I was a middle class, middle middle class kid growing up into the culture of the 1990s. Dad was a teacher, mom was a nurse. As middle class as they come. As I grew up into junior high and high school I became increasingly confused as to why all the people around me seemed so interested in nothing more than the latest products, the latest television shows, (South Park was very popular when I was in junior high) and the latest sporting events. Why is that? Because it's the primary focus of the culture. The television, music, news, movies, it's all geared toward selling things, and triggering temptation.

Have you ever noticed how rare it is for a truly intellectual television show to air on TV? It's all dumbed down. It's like it's specifically designed to keep people consuming and not asking questions. Thank the Lord of Heaven and Earth for the Internet. Because there I could search, I could participate and inquire. I read about all kinds of ideas that I simply didn't know about. They were not allowed within the orthodoxy of television media, public school curriculum, videogames, news, and sports.

Therefore my conclusion must be that the mind of the child in western society is held hostage by the media of today. Think about it, really think about it. Malcom Muggeridge knew it. Noam Chomsky knows it. G.K. Chesterton could see it years ago. Francis Schaeffer saw it in the 1970s. Dr. Zacharias sees it today. I can see it too.

The vast majority go to public school, they are taught materialism, scientism, and modernity.

The vast majority watch television, and are sucked into a culture of sexuality, sports, materialism, technology, and purchasing. Selfishness is king.

The vast majority are not given a Christian message. Many are given a dead Christian message or a prosperity gospel message (think Joel Osteen and T.D. Jakes.)  Others are given a straw-man description of Christianity as a "backwards religious" cult of simpletons. If the Christian message is in there at all, it must compete with an incredible noise and temptation and past programming within the mind. No wonder it's so difficult for Christians in the west to live truly holy lives. There is far too much noise. And no wonder young people reject faith: They've been programmed with slogans from society blasted at them constantly like "religion is man-made" and "all the evil caused by religion" and "religion is for stupid people."  None of those things are true of course.

So it's not an easy time to be a Christian, or to share the Christian message. But this is not a special situation. World Christianity has always faced chaos and trouble. And it's always overcome. And we will overcome also.

When you look at church history, what has Christianity had to face? Let's see, first intense persecution in Israel in the first century AD. Then intense persecution in the ancient Roman empire AD 100-300. The fall of the Roman empire. Evangelizing the barbarian invaders. Then fighting corruption from the papacy, leading to two reformations. The Muslim invasion of Europe and North Africa. Then two world wars, and now today, globalization and mass media. It's no different than the past chaos Christianity has faced. We will overcome the world, because Christ overcame the world.

The first step is to believe that we can. We've been sold the lie in this country that "it's done, you can't change it." Abortion is done. Secularism is done. Media depravity is a reality, accept it. Gay marriage is a reality, accept it. Next they'll be saying you need to take a microchip implant (Iplant 7 series from Apple?), just accept it. It's a new era, just do it. I refuse that. I can change anything. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. This is nothing new for world Christianity, we've faced worse in the past two thousand years and overcome it by leaps and bounds.

Why? Because we've got Christ. He is our King, our Lord, our blessed Comforter. And we have the current ministry of the Holy Spirit, who moves too and fro between the nations, like Gandalf the White between Rohan and Minas Tirith uniting the Christian peoples against the forces of the evil one. All we have to do is believe in him. We petition the Lord God, and he hears us. As the word says:
"Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing. Why do you complain, Jacob?
Why do you say, Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord;
my cause is disregarded by my God”?

Do you not know? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." -Isaiah 40:26-31(NIV)

Young people are hungry for the truth today. As men like Ravi Zacharias, William Lane Craig, Frank Turek, and many others travel to universities to give their presentations on Christianity they are speaking to increasingly massive crowds. Young people are hungry for the truth. At a recent event Ravi Zacharias of RZIM spoke to over 40,000 young people. It reminds me of the 2012 talks given by the presidential candidate Ron Paul, as he traveled to universities like UCLA and spoke regarding liberty and restoring the Constitution to 4,000 and 6,000 and in Wisconsin 3,500; an event that I attended. It reminds me of the campaigns of people like Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders in 2016, with thousands of young people turning out.

People are fed up with the corruption in Congress, in banking, and in big business. They know about the lies. But just like the media ignores candidates they don't like, so also the mainstream media ignores news of any real substance, instead covering celebrity gossip and "this politician said this or that" while the Constitution is shredded and religious liberty is assaulted. And so the mainstream media also conveniently ignores people like Ravi Zacharias, William Lane Craig, Stephen Meyer, and Lee Strobel who share a relevant Christian message. But never-the-less young people just don't buy into post-modernism or this materialistic scientism. They know deep down there is something more. They want answers! Thank God for ministries like the Veritas Forum, Cross Examined, Reasonable Faith, and RZIM that go into university campuses. Because so many churches simply fail to penetrate into people groups, even those right around them.

There is too much noise, depravity, and temptation for young people these days. Young people, teens, twenties, thirties have been thrown to the wolves of addiction, pharmaceuticals, sexuality, fine foods, new technologies, products, and entertainment. I was stuck in it all, wondering what truly mattered, wondering what the ultimate reality was. I sought out the perfect high, the perfect social encounters, the perfect true love sexuality for completion but all of those things fell short and instead left me addicted, confused, depressed, and starving for something I didn't know I needed.

Jesus Christ is the perfection I so deeply required. His internal presence through the Holy Spirit is the final fulfillment of such ancient lusts and longings buried within me. I want everyone to know, especially young people who are suffering in the three ring circus out there in the United States and Europe, that all of those temptations, treats, and triumphs are in the end hollow. The truth is that we need God just like our parents and grandparents needed God. We need God in reality, in relevance, and in truth. We really really do.

The noise is so loud in the culture: "Buy this!" "You need that!" Instead turn to Christ. Join faith communities. Get active in Christ. Support organizations like RZIM, Cross Examined, The Veritas Forum, Cru, the Salvation Army, and others.  Stand out, and swim against the stream.

That way we can work toward a better tomorrow, and shut off a lot of that media noise, replacing it with outlets of biblical truth, important causes, and means of edification for the body of believers in Jesus Christ, the blessed Lord and King of the entire, actual, real Earth. He is our literal leader, our high chancellor, who will soon claim his position and set things right on the Earth. Await that day with hope in the Lord, that you will walk and not grow weary, you will eat hearty of his truth, and stand the test of faith over the test of time and temptation. Until that day of his return, participate in these organizations, share the gospel of grace through faith, and stand strong in the faith. God bless you all, amen.

In conclusion, John 10:7-18 (NIV) says: "Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. 12 The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. 13 The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep.

14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. 17 The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. 18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

Sky walking Russian Kids and the Meaning of Life

Have you ever heard of those Russian kids who climb extremely high buildings and bridges, as well as equipment and videotape themselves at extreme heights?  Google it.  I've seen some of the videos, crazy stuff.  Have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loGM3VvpsOE

It's sort of an internet phenomenon. It's a bit dated now, but I came back to it recently out of pure curiousity  These kids live in small towns in Russia, with nothing to do, I assume.  So this is what they resort to... I can't help but wonder if lives like these are a result of a lack of understanding of purpose and meaning in life.

I'm sure its entertaining, a rush.  I'm sure it's stimulating.  They're looking for adventure, joy, and excitement in their lives.  And they have none, so they turn to the very extreme of cheap thrills, risking life itself in defiance of all life's value.

I understand the appeal of that, though many reading may not.  I understand putting it all on the line, and escaping death by a hair.  As twisted as it sounds, it was appealing to throw in the face of life itself by risking it in utter foolishness.  That is my spirit outside of Christ.  My cause is nothingness without the Savior.  My mission becomes death and darkness without Christ. So it is best to remain with Christ.

But I can relate to this desire, before and after conversion. I used to rock climb at night.  I used to take a lot of risks.  I still do take risks, but different risks. Risks are important in a meaningful life.  But I used to take risks simply for the enjoyment of being risky.  There is something liberating in denying the value of your own life, for some reason.  Maybe it's the height of rebellion, though maybe, just maybe it boomerangs around to something more honest and profound: A declaration of the freedom of life in a world of rules, regulations, and subtle tyranny.  Or maybe it's not so much a reaction against tyranny, but a reaction against the systematized way the modern world is, charts, graphs, roadways, businesses, all lined up just so, and requiring a conformity that is just so.  And the human mind, made in the image of God, knowing it's made for liberty, and freedom, rejects this construct in it's various restricting forms.

The modern world starves us of legitimate spiritual expression.  And it cuts us off from ourselves and from those around us, through screens and substances and prescriptions and to do lists.  So perhaps the young break free by dangling from massive objects, skyscrapers over looking cities full of half asleep people who can't see God in the shadows.

I used to be the ultimate self destructive person.  I took enjoyment in slowly destroying myself through drug use.  I was lacking meaning in my life.  I had been told in the higher education institutions that life had no meaning, that all truth was relative, that my truth was up to me, and no one has the truth because there is no truth.  That led to despair, and meaninglessness.  But the self destruction I lived out was a natural consequence of the post-modernist garbage I was fed.

I'm here to tell you now: Post-modernism is a lie and moral relativism is a lie.

It's garbage, total nonsense puked out by college professors who can't stand the idea of moral accountability.  But there is meaning in life.  And there is a real God out there who made this universe, and designed this structure of nature, space, oxygen, animals, plants and us.  It's so painfully obvious now that I think about it.  All this complexity, all this harmony, even with all the problems and evils of our world tell me that there is a God, but something went wrong in this universe. And what went wrong is you and me.  We've fled from God and tried to remake the world in our own confused image.  And it's led to meaninglessness and moral chaos.  It's led to pain and confusion in our hearts and souls.  We ache after something greater, our minds reach out for something beyond us, and when we realize one simple fact it all begins to make sense: We're the ones who are lost, confused, sad children who ran away from home and are now lost in the wilderness.  And we can't see right.  We don't understand.  We're afraid and hostile like a caveman on the streets of modern day LA.

So if we can come to realize the reality of God, this is the key that opens the ancient doorway, on a new path, away from the ledge, away from the self destructive thrill seeking, away from chaos, and to a new road, a journey through a beautiful labyrinth that leads to a nazarene peasant, two thousands years ago, named Jesus Christ.  Yes, it's true.

Five Presentations on Atheism, Chinese Persecution, Evidence for God and Abortion Arguments

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" -Hosea 4:6.

To be robust Christian activists, warriors for Christ in the culture we must constantly be fighting for the truth on the very pioneers of truth and knowledge.  We must meet people where they are with the timeless truths of scripture and the life of Jesus Christ.  We can do this by constantly expanding our knowledge.

What is happening in the world?  What are the latest events?  What do young people, millennials believe today?  What are the best arguments for atheism?  What are the best arguments for theism?  What about abortion?  And what of the persecuted church?  How can we reach the young with the gospel?

It is our responsibility to stay at the forefront of world events and at the forefront of knowledge.  Only then can we counter every argument that sets itself up against the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:5).  Stay blessed friends, keep fighting, though it looks bad now, our hard work day and night in our culture and society will plant that seeds that fuel the future transformation of our society in the hope and power of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

          Enjoy, and share!

A Movement of Millennials: The last hope of Western Civilization

I'd like to tell you about a movement.  It's a movement of young people.  It is a movement to recover what has been lost.  And it has only just begun.

This is a movement toward redemption.  And toward hope.  But most importantly a movement toward the truth.  This is a movement to tear the veil over the truth in our society.  Great things are done not by mythic heroes, no, great things are done by everyday young people who take a stand.  They take a stand, even though they're afraid.

History like anything else is circular.  A pattern emerges for those who can spot them.  Generation by generation events take a familiar turn time and again, there is nothing new under the sun.

The first generation builds an economic empire, a Christian nation.  They stack up their bodies, die side by side to free themselves from cruel overlords.  Again they fight to banish slavery pouring out their blood for the cause of liberty.  One hundred years later men and boys die on the battlefields of this world once again, heaping up their bodies sacrificially with every ounce of strength imaginable to topple the great evil of the Nazi regime.  Not cinema, but reality.  Only 80 short years ago a genocidal dictator nearly took the world, yet he was stopped.

The second generation builds on the advancements of the first, developing the Christian nation.  They build on the platforms of the first, wisely.  Economic prosperity ensues.  Innovation becomes an everyday occurrence.  Technology blossoms. Diseases are cured.  The people begin to live in real luxury.  They honor God, and preserve a moral structure within the society.

The third generation, having eyes that did not see the victories of the first, begin to systematically eject God from the society.  They don't need God.  They look down on the first and second generation as backward rubes, fools, war mongers whose religion destroyed the world.  Little do they realize that they live in the lap of the blessing provided by such faith.  The third generation is arrogant, rebellious, tired of the status quo.  They seek to remake reality in their own image.

In their flight from Christianity they embrace the very ideologies that brought the world to the brink a hundred years ago.  They begin to teach those ideologies in schools, and bring them into every academic discipline imaginable.  They wage a quiet war on the faith of their fathers.  They abandon moral precepts.  They develop psychological phenomenon aimed toward liberating the "suppressed human spirit."  They declare God dead, and develop convoluted theories, philosophies, and sciences to explain away God.  They revel in their own glory and build altars to themselves amongst the cities.

The fourth generation comes on the scene.  This is my generation, young people today.  Some call us "millennials."  The third generation stood on the Godly platform provided by previous generations as they tore down the structures.  The fourth generation is raised up in the lies of the 3rd generation.  They are children of the rebellion. They become the first to truly live out the full entailments of the godless ideologies.  The result is chaos, addiction, pain, sorrow, and brokenness for the fourth generation.  They are destroyed by it.  So a few of them wander, broken into quiet spaces, careening toward the darkness... away from the ruins, and something beautiful happens.  God finds them there.  They discover the God of their grandfathers.

"Millennials" is an interesting name for us.  I wonder, are we millennials of the new age of relativistic pluralism, self anointed gods of the universe?  Or maybe, just maybe could we be the children of God, glorified adopted children, part of the coming millennial kingdom of Jesus Christ?

There are two roads before us. The first is that of embracing the ideologies we were raised on: modernity, materialism, naturalism, and more recently post-modernism and "democratic" marxism.  We can embrace the unification of all religions into one pot in which we proclaim ourselves demigods.  We can embrace the drug culture, sex, selfishness, gender-whatever, and all of this madness.  But where will it lead us?  The answer is simple, profound, self-evident: This road leads to total destruction, implosion, disaster.  It is the end for western man.

The second road, well, that's something special.  It's this movement we're talking about.  This movement is powerful, because anyone part of it quickly realizes that it could not have come about organically.  It's something that's been designed, and set forth by God himself.  That's the movement.  This unnamed movement of young people.  And it is a movement.  It's happening today.  It's doing the impossible.  Let me tell you about this movement... this movement that I'm a part of:

We are those raised in a society where the truth had been carefully hidden from us.

We are those who have found this world empty and wanting.

We are those who have perceived the darkness within and without.

We are those who have turned to the light.

We are those who rejected ideologies that suited our fancies, or give credence to our debased desires for sex and pleasure.

We are those in search of the truth.

We are those who have found the truth.

We are those who dug through the ash heaps, amongst the broken idols of naturalism, darwinism, materialism and all the rest, in search of an old book.

We are those kin of Josiah, searching through the wreckage of this empire; we have discovered the book of the law.

We are those who have been totally crushed under the weight of our own sorrow.

We are those selected by a loving God to do his difficult work on the Earth.

We are those who have come to realize that Christianity is the truth about life.

We are those who see following Jesus as a systematic worldview.

We are those who have gone back, and searched through history, science, theology, and government, pouring over old books in search of the truth.

We are those so filled to the brim and set a fire by the truth of Jesus Christ that we desperately seek to share it with anyone who will listen.

This is a movement of young people.  This is a movement of millennials.  This movement displays itself in many ways: through apologetics blogs, facebook groups, twitter accounts, at small churches, in recovery groups, on college campuses, in science departments, in academia, on websites and forums, and in politics.  This movement flies over dozens of banners: religious liberty emblems, appeal to heaven flags, the God's Not Dead movement, American flags, Gadsden and Moultrie flags, occupiers and protesters, anonymous activists, churches, political groups, Christian activists, libertarian hedgehogs, Freedom caucus patriots, on and on the list goes.

We are those who have found the book of the law scattered in the wreckage of this falling nation.  And we're trying so desperately to set things right, to share the truth hidden by the media and secular academia.

We're outnumbered.  We're constantly censored and minimized.  We're mocked and ridiculed by media organizations.  We're bombarded by advertisements and sensual stimuli.

We are the exception to the rule of our generation.  We watch our brothers and sisters driven toward depravity, darkness, and hedonism through the mass production centers of public schools, secular universities, Hollywood and the mainstream media.

We are truly watching millennials, our fellows, being force fed the debased ideologies of the rebellious third generation that turned from God.  They preferred sexual revolution, they preferred Tim Leary drug culture, they preferred evolutionary biology to intelligent design, they preferred secular self help therapy to healing in Christ, and they preferred revisionist history to the true anthropology of man.

Yet we are rising up, attacked from every side, crippled and broken by addictions and sorrows, yet we are rising up, young people, like me, like you, we're fighting tooth and nail to save western civilization before it's too late.

Our enemy is powerful.  They are dead set on ridiculing, outlawing and destroying the America their forefathers built.  They are seeking to replace it with an impossible marxist utopia.  Instead they've opened the doors to disaster, refusing to see that their ideologies have left western man addicted and destroyed.  They cannot face that truth, so they push forward unto total collapse.

Yet even if it's too late for western civilization, and it may well be, we have a greater challenge ahead of us: to share the Gospel.  We're fighting to share the incredible true gospel of Jesus Christ with a generation lost.  We're not just fighting for civilizations or countries, we're fighting for the souls of humanity.

We're fighting and amazingly we're winning.  They can't keep us hidden forever.  God's not dead.  He's truly alive.  Jesus is coming again, souls hang in the balance.  Join us today.  If your reading these words, you are the future.  You are the last hope of western civilization.  You are the resistance.  You are the body of Jesus Christ.  Share the truth, share the apologetics, share the real history, share the science, share the gospel!  Onward Christian soldiers, onward.

Even if it's too late for the declining church, for western society, at least we fought to our last breath to proclaim the gospel, to share Jesus, and to redeem the world.  Don't give up.  I know your out there, hurting inside, burdened for the nations, crying out in the darkness toward God in heaven, interceding for the people.  You aren't alone.  Others are out there, standing strong in their towns and communities.  There is still hope at this the twilight of western man.  There is still a light burning brightly.  Let us continue until He returns.  Burn brightly. For Christ.

Spheres of Truth in the World: the Bible, Science, & Politics

As a young man in a strange world I often wonder about life: Why am I here?  What is this society?  What does human history mean?  What is the purpose of government? How does culture change?  What philosophies undergird life?

Let's look at five key areas of truth in the world.  No one ever taught me this stuff.  I was never taught how various disciplines fit together.  I had to teach myself through a lot of reading.  I encourage the same for all of you; knowledge is power.

For young people like me, you've got to search out the truth, it will not be handed to you.  In fact, it will be actively hidden from plain sight.

Let's look at interdisciplinary truth as it fits into a Christian worldview.  And when I say Christian worldview really what I'm saying is the truth about what life really is.  It's the eyeglasses that bring a blurry world into focus.  We can see clearly only through it.  But it's not projecting an illusion, it's bringing the world into focus.

          1. Bible - The most important aspect in interrupting the delusion of materialism is found within the pages of the Bible.  Here we find our manual to life.  Many suggest: If only life came with a manual.  The truth is shockingly clear: Life does come with a manual.  It's found in the Bible.  And really all "Bible" means is book.  So in essence, the manual for life is "The Book."  A description of reality defined by a God who identifies his name as "I am."  A God who created the first man Adam, which means "Man."  And the first woman, Eve, which means "woman."  Fascinating isn't it?  The titles provided are the categories themselves, Bible means book.  God means "I am" or "I am who I am."  The heavens mean the universe.  On and on it goes, a base definition of the existence of reality.  Do you know what Jesus Christ means?  God our savior.  Immanuel?  God with us.

Within the Bible we find the description of reality as it really is.  Every situation is described perfectly, the state of the universe, the state of the Earth, the state inside your heart and mine, all perfectly described as it actually is, instead of how we would prefer it to be.  What a tough, tough "the book" to read though.  No wonder so many toss it aside!  Dare I say, that it tells me exactly who I am, without any filters or white lies!  In fact it does just that.  And it isn't pretty.  The guide book is clear.  The truth is tough.  But ultimately the truth is what matters the most, find it in 'the book' about 'I am.'

          2. Science - Science describes the universe around us.  Despite what you may have heard, the greatest scientists have always been believers in God.  Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, Francis Bacon, and John Kelvin just to name a few of the fathers of modern scientific disciplines.  One might come upon the mistaken conclusion that science argues against religious faith.  And one would be wrong in that assertion.  But there are many in that field who so desire to erase God from western civilization.  We must not let them.

There are two areas that I've found particularly intriguing, one is the study of the universe and it's beginning as basis for the necessity of a timeless omnipotent eternal being.  There are many, many great books and video presentations on such topics.  I suppose it all depends on how you like to learn.  I myself prefer listening to audio or watching video of speakers.  I've found audiobooks and Youtube to be a real blessing for such endeavors.  But if you love reading a good book, well, shouldn't we all be so lucky?  My goodness I could list off so many good books and speakers, but I'll just give a few of the best: Francis Collins, watch him speak, or read his book "The Language of God."  Search for him on Youtube.  Second, of course a personal favorite of mine Ravi Zacharias. And thirdly, the remarkable Dr. William Lane Craig.  The last two were roommates in college, imagine that?  I wonder what they talked about!

Secondly, the study of the cell.  Scientists look into human cells, anatomy, physiology and they see harmonious complexity which points to... God.  And I'll recommend a few more brilliant minds.  Most notably we have Stephen Meyer of the Discovery Institute.  Search for him on Youtube or purchase one of several of his books: Signature in the Cell or Darwin's Doubt.  Secondly I'll recommend Ken Ham of Answers in Genesis.  Thirdly, I'd recommend the great minds over at the Institute for Creation Research, most notably John D. Morris.

          3. Politics - "We are told as followers of the savior, that we must check our faith at the door (into politics). Do you know why they are telling us this? Because the only people who will defend the traditions that America is based on are people who believe in God. Without those people our system must fail. They mean to keep the army of freedom off the battlefield, by telling us we don't have the right to show up. We not only have the right before God, we have the obligation." -Alan Keyes, Progress and Peril.

Government and politics are obviously extremely important.  The reason we have the freedom to share the gospel is because Christians were good stewards of their nation; even and especially at it's founding.

Christianity has changed the world, especially in the area of government.  But you will never, ever hear this truth in schools, universities or in the public square.  You will never hear about it on television or in any popular media.  When you really research it, my goodness is it astounding!  Christianity preserved human history during the dark ages.  Christianity transformed the ancient Roman empire.  Christianity blunted the blades of barbarian tribes.  Christianity established the first orphanages and hospitals.  Christianity was a bulwark against the Muslim invasion of Europe.  Christianity was the foundation of the greatest nation on Earth, the United States of America.  Christianity today is streaking through Africa, changing the entire continent.  Christianity today is flourishing in the hearts of the underground churches of China, inspiring the hearts of once oppressed peoples.  Peoples now set free in heart and mind, in the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Christianity has done more to invigorate and transform humanity than all the exhortations of Greek philosophers, grand designs of Freemason sages, and systematic designs of benevolent conquerors combined.

Today Christians in the United States are under prolonged, constant assault.  The situation is quite bleak.  Amazingly the forces that Reagan crushed during the Cold War, managed to survive in ideology, quietly sweep into academia, and seed themselves throughout our culture.  Today they are finishing off a systematic toppling of every sector of our once prosperous nation. They've toppled morality, they've toppled the family, they've toppled free markets, they've toppled the Constitution, religious liberty, and now they are consolidating their victories.  This is the secret history of western civilization state-side.  You will never hear this story in the popular media, because the popular media has largely been seeded by these progressive socialists. But believe me when I say, you've been led astray.  We can all tell something is wrong.  Very wrong!  I couldn't quite place it for so long.  But eventually I discovered the truth.  And it isn't pretty.

This is a great topic to get educated on.  I'll recommend some books and speakers to discover.  Alan Keyes is great, for one.  The Truth Project dvd set is probably your best systematic source to learn the most.  It will wow you.  Another excellent dvd series is "How Should We Then Live?" by Dr. Francis Schaeffer.  I would also recommend a documentary called "Agenda: Grinding America Down."  Some great speakers that have captured my attention recently are these people, definitely Youtube them: Ben Shapiro, Ted Cruz, Mark Levin, Ben Carson, Dinesh D'Souza, Paul Joseph Watson, Dennis Prager, and Alan Sears.

          1. The Design of the Universe
"We have only to see a few letters of the alphabet spelling our name in the sand to recognize at once the work of an intelligent agent. How much more likely, then is the existence of an intelligent Creator behind human DNA, the colossal biological database that contains no fewer than 3.5 billion "letters" - the longest "word" yet discovered?" –John Lennox, God and Stephen Hawking: Whose Design Is It Anyway?, p. 75.

“Discoveries of the last half of the 20th century have brought the scientific community to the realization that our universe and our planet in the universe are so remarkably unique that it is almost impossible to imagine how this could have happened accidentally, causing many agnostic scientists to concede that indeed some intelligent creative force may be required to account for it.” –Dr. Walter Bradley, Professor, Mechanical Engineering, Texas A & M

“When you analyze all of the most current affirmative evidence from cosmology, physics, astronomy, biology, and so forth...the positive case for an intelligent designer becomes absolutely compelling.” –Jonathan Wells

          2. The Hiddenness of God
"Either God exists, or he does not...Let us weigh the gain and the loss in betting that God exists...If you win, you win everything; if you lose, you lose nothing. Do not hesitate then, to gamble on His existence." –Blaise Pascal, French scientist and theologian, quoted in Harold Sala, Why You Can Have Confidence in the Bible, p. 159

"The chief reason people do not know God is not because He hides from them but because they hide from Him." –John Stott

“God maintains a delicate balance between keeping his existence sufficiently evident so people will know he's there and yet hiding his presence enough so that people who want to choose to ignore him can do it. This way, their choice of destiny is really free.” –J.P. Moreland

Is it reasonable to believe in God?  Can we confidently believe?  This is a quick description of some of the keys to unlocking the truth hidden in plain sight.

Science or God is a false choice.  Don't subscribe to that.  The Christian faith inspired some of the greatest scientists in history.  That continues today.  Is it reasonable to believe in God?  Based on a great deal of inquiry, into multiple disciplines and from the testimony of great men and women over the ages, I do believe it is highly reasonable to believe in God.

There are a lot of lies and distortions out there.  Don't believe it.  They try to push this agenda, that it has to be science vs. God.  But that is nonsense!  God and science are not in conflict.  People want to divide and conquer in that area though.  Be careful for the bias in the media, in the sciences, history, philosophy, and in culture all together.  Many of these quotes I'm sharing here do not fit the media narrative and the cultural narrative.

“Atheism is so senseless. When I look at the solar system. I see the earth at the right distance from the sun to receive the proper amounts of heat and light. This did not happen by chance."
          Sir Isaac Newton

In my view the best argument for the existence of God is the argument from design.  It screams very loudly from every angle, from the smallest cells in our bodies to the galaxies surrounding the milky way.  Every small and large part of life testifies that God exists.  Why?  Because harmonious complexity does not come from random chance, it never has and it never will.  Entropy, and the second law of thermodynamics.

To illustrate the the argument from design: It's like admiring a beautiful painting, of a lush forest with great mountains in the background.  It's awe inspiring and magnificent.  As you walk nearer to inspect the design you start to spot the brush marks on the canvass where the artist, the painter, the designer, brought the painting to life.  In the same way, when we inspect the vast, incalculable complexity of the universe, and the cells of the human body, of nature, and the union of intersections all precisely tuned to allow for a natural order, we understand that we are seeing the paint brush strokes of a grand designer, we're seeing the handiwork of God himself.

“It's natural to be skeptical of a story like Noah. However, the greatest miracle in the Bible is not Noah and the flood. The greatest miracle in the Bible is recorded in the first verse: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." If that miracle is true, then every miracle in the Bible is at least possible (including Noah's Ark). If God created the universe, then He can do whatever He wants inside it.” –Frank Turek

Quite parallel to the argument from design is the Kalam cosmological argument.  This argument basically indicates that something can't come from nothing.  Travel back with me to the birth of the universe.  The big bang if you believe in such a thing, where did it come from?  Who generated the explosion?  Nothing can't trigger a big bang.  The universe can't pop into existence from nothingness, it makes no sense.  The cosmological argument indicates that the best explanation for the existence of the universe is that a timeless, eternal, all powerful being created the universe.

To escape from this obvious conclusion atheist scientists will speculate that well, perhaps an infinite number of possible universes all exist at the same time in parallel dimensions and we just happen to be in the one where a perfect harmony was developed to allow for human life to flourish and sustain itself on a planet bearing natural plant life edible to humans with a perfect ecosystem to allow for life, plants, animals, and the planet itself all to sustain one another in a perpetuating circle of life.

They call this the multiverse theory.  And the multiverse theory isn't just ridiculous, it's down right embarrassing.  First, it's purely speculative to suggest an infinite number of universes all exist.  There is no way to test such a theory.  Second, Occam's razor cuts it off immediately as being much too far fetched and exceedingly complicated.  It neglects a much more simple, and workable explanation: God.  Third, the theory engenders a logical fallacy called special pleading.  When cornered with a finely tuned universe, this is the special case scenario being entirely preposterous, is still suggested as an alternative to the elephant in the room: God.

“Is it really credible that random processes could have constructed a reality...which excels in every sense anything produced by the intelligence of man?” –Michael Denton

A God created the universe.  Fair enough, which God?  Let's look at the Bible.  Is it credible?  Is it really the word of God, inspired through the minds of men?  Is there evidence outside the Bible to testify to it's truthfulness?

One area that testifies to the truth of the Bible is archaeology.

“It is not too much to say that it was the rise of the science of archaeology that broke the deadlock between historians and the orthodox Christian. Little by little, one city after another, one civilization after another, one culture after another, whose memories were enshrined only in the Bible, were restored to their proper place in ancient history by the studies of archaeologists…The over-all result is indisputable. Forgotten cities have been found, the handiwork of vanished peoples has reappeared, contemporary records of Biblical events have been unearthed and the uniqueness of biblical revelation has been emphasized by contrast and comparison to the newly understood religions of ancient peoples. Nowhere has archaeological discovery refuted the Bible as history.” –John Elder, archaeologist (Quoted in Don Stewart, The Ten Wonders of the Bible, 1990, p. 58)

What about the Bible itself?  Is it reliable?  We must remember that many, if not most who expel skepticism at the biblical documents are working from an extreme bias against the supernatural.  They are defending their worldview, which is naturalistic.  Naturalism is the doctrine that the physical world and universe is all there ever was or will be.  It's entirely unproveable.  It's a worldview.  Is the Bible reliable?  Listen to the testimony of the experts:

“There exists no document from the ancient world witnessed by so excellent a set of textual and historical testimonies, and offering so superb an array of historical data on which the intelligent decision may be made. An honest [person] cannot dismiss a source of this kind. Skepticism regarding the historical credentials of Christianity is based upon an irrational bias.” –Dr. Clark Pinnock, Skeptics Who Demanded a Verdict, Josh McDowell, p. 84.

“It's ironic that Isaac Newton, discoverer of the laws of motion that were later used by others to attempt to contradict parts of the Bible, was one of its greatest defenders. He wrote several papers supporting the accuracy of the text and spoke out against the Biblical critics of his day.” –Ralph O. Muncaster, The Bible: Scientific Insights, p. 20.

“Is the Bible the Word of God? Then let us all resolve from this day forward to prize the Bible more. Let us not fear being idolaters of this blessed book. Men may easily make an idol of the Church, of ministers, of sacraments, or of intellect. Men cannot make an idol of the Word. Let us regard all who would damage the authority of the Bible, or impugn its credit, as spiritual robbers. We are traveling through a wilderness: they rob us of our only guide. We are voyaging over a stormy sea: they rob us of our only compass. We are toiling over a weary road: they pluck our staff out of our hands. And what do these spiritual robbers give us in place of the Bible? What do they offer as a safer guide and better provision for our souls? Nothing! absolutely nothing! Big swelling words! Empty promises of new light! High sounding jargon; but nothing substantial and real! They would fain take from us the bread of life, and they do not give us in its place so much as a stone. Let us turn a deaf ear to them. Let us firmly grasp and prize the Bible more and more, the more it is assaulted....God has given us the Bible to be a light to guide us to everlasting life. Let us not neglect this precious gift. Let us read it diligently, walk in its light, and we shall be saved.” –J.C. Ryle (1816-1900)

“Born in the East and clothed in Oriental form and imagery, the Bible walks the ways of all the world with familiar feet and enters land after land to find its own everywhere. It has learned to speak in hundreds of languages to the heart of man. Children listen to its stories with wonder and delight, and wise men at its warnings, but to the wounded and penitent it has a mother’s voice. It has woven itself into our dearest dreams; so that love, friendship, sympathy, devotion, memory, hope, put on the beautiful garments of its treasured speech. No man is poor or desolate who has this treasure for his own. When the landscape darkens, and the trembling pilgrim comes to the Valley of the Shadow, he is not afraid to enter; he takes the rod and staff of Scripture in his hand; he says to friend and comrade, ‘Goodbye; we shall meet again’; and confronted by that support, he goes toward the lonely pass as one who walks through darkness into light.” –Henry Van Dyke (Quoted by Don Stewart, The Ten Wonders of the Bible, 1990, p. 9)

We have to be careful about the society around us.  In going to public schools and then attending the liberal university of Wisconsin colleges network I found that I was being indoctrinated into a worldview.  It was a worldview that encouraged skepticism toward the Bible and unquestioning faith in other areas, like liberalism, evolution, post-modernist philosophy, and many other areas.  I'm not saying those worldviews and ideologies are necessarily entirely fallacious, but I am indicating that I was taught a sort of devotion to them.  A devotion much like the devotion a Christian might have for his worldview.

In my life I've found that I must peel away many misconceptions from my mind.  I must unlearn so many things that I've already learned.  I held an unwavering skepticism toward the Bible and an unwavering faith toward my own judgment and discernment.  I wanted life to be what I wanted it to be.  I ignored the truth.  Western society pushes a secular ideology at every turn.  You may not realize that many of the beliefs you hold are ingrained from a secular perspective not based on facts, but based on faith in naturalist presuppositions, and secular approaches to all disciplines of life, from psychology to family, to finances, philosophy, and of course science.

I'll give you just one example out of many.  I was watching the History channel, an influencer of tens of millions of people, if not more.  On the show I was watching they were trying to show how the events in the Bible could be explained by scientific means.  When I clicked onto the channel they were discussing the star the wise men followed to find the recently born Jesus Christ in Bethlehem.  The historians, scientists, and archaeologists on the show were trying to show that perhaps the "star" they saw was a meteor or some sort of trick of light based on science.  See, they know the biblical accounts are historically reasonable, but they must absolutely refuse any reference to the supernatural.  Later they were discussing the escape of the Israelites from bondage in Egypt.  They were trying to explain that perhaps the river become clogged further upstream creating a sand bar along the water so they could pass over safely.  I kept wondering, why won't they consider the possibility of a supernatural occurrence?  The screen switched to an speaker who indicated that the text says Moses called upon God to make the waters split, but "that's a fantasy."  And I wondered, how do you know it's a fantasy?  You've provided no proof that it's a fantasy.  You've indicated no evidence that the supernatural is impossible.  You've simply acted on an unfounded presupposition that the supernatural is impossible.  Which is unacceptable, especially when your giving off an air of objectivity.

“The excessive skepticism of many liberal theologians stems not from a careful evaluation of the available data, but from an enormous predisposition against the supernatural.” –Millar Burrows, former Yale University Professor

“All I am in private life is a literary critic and historian, that's my job...And I'm prepared to say on that basis if anyone thinks the Gospels are either legends or novels, then that person is simply showing his incompetence as a literary critic. I've read a great many novels and I know a fair amount about the legends that grew up among early people, and I know perfectly well the Gospels are not that kind of stuff.” –C. S. Lewis

Have you ever heard that before?  "The Bible is just a book of legends."  The only problem with that statement is it's completely false.  The Bible is accepted by the vast majority of historians as reliable accounts of historical events.  Explain that one to an atheist, they will go crazy.  They don't like to bring up history though, or science for that matter.  Unless of course it's in relation to a strawman of the Christian faith, matched with a false dichotomy of religion vs. science.

“It is generally the man who is not ready to argue, who is ready to sneer.” –G.K. Chesterton, as quoted in The Christian Research Journal, Vol. 32, No. 1, 2009, p. 44.

In conclusion, there is strong, powerful evidence for faith in the God of the Bible.  The testimony stretches from presidents, to nobel prize winners, to the best scientists of history, and to some of the greatest minds today.  They all indicate that the God of the Bible is real.  There are excellent arguments, like the cosmological argument and the argument from design.  You may rest assured that Jesus Christ is Lord, and he is alive today.  You may rest assured that the Bible is the word of God, and we may place all our trust in the God who cares for us and keeps us in his protection until the day of Christ Jesus.  Amen.

“Therefore, when a person refuses to come to Christ it is never just because of lack of evidence or because of intellectual difficulties: at root, he refuses to come because he willingly ignores and rejects the drawing of God's Spirit on his heart. No one in the final analysis really fails to become a Christian because of lack of arguments; he fails to become a Christian because he loves darkness rather than light and wants nothing to do with God.” –William Lane Craig, Reasonable Faith: Christian Truth and Apologetics, p. 35-36.
